The enduring popularity of Star Wars, even among the 4-year-old set, is extraordinary. Personally, I was completely freaked out by Darth Vader when I first saw the movies, but I guess toddlers are made of stronger stuff these days.
I’m not going to pretend that this was an easy cake to make. However, if any of you want to create your own storm trooper decorations and then finish off your cake with plastic action figures, here’s a quick and easy tutorial.
Copy and print this template and trace it onto sturdy cardboard. Roll out fondant, place the template on top and cut out the shape. Let the fondant harden (at least one hour).
With an edible ink marker, outline the figure. The rest is covered in the video.
(Please bear in mind that this was my first attempt at videography – hence the unintentional inclusion of the news in the background – can you figure out the date based on the story they’re covering? Also, don’t be alarmed by my food colour-stained fingers; you can always wear gloves.)
