It’s Tu B’Shvat and spring flowers are on the way! Skeptical? Well, the near confluence of Groundhog Day and Tu B’Shvat provides almost incontrovertible proof. I mean, who wouldn’t take a meteorologist rodent’s word for it? For the uninitiated (or non-Americans) if, when the groundhog emerges from his burrow in Pennsylvania on February 2, he does not see his shadow, then spring will arrive earlier than expected. If it’s a sunny day, you’ve got another six weeks to wait.
I know, counterintuitive.
While you’re working on that conundrum, why not kick back and enjoy this terrific film from 1993. It’s the perfect teshuva (repentance) movie and while Rosh Hashana is still 7½ months away, Tu B’Shvat is the New Year of the trees…..
