Spring is here! Well, it’s been here for about a month actually. Then it disappeared for a bit but now it’s back! Our winter wardrobes are safely packed away, and my snow shovels still have yet to be put to use.
(I’m dead serious about the shovels. Two Julys ago my parents were assembling a lift in anticipation of their Aliya from Canada. I figured I’d better include anything I might ever need, so I headed to the hardware store to inquire about snow shovels. The salesman was slightly baffled. I told him I’d heard there was a cold front moving in – What? It could happen. When pressed, I explained that we were in fact packing up to move to the Middle East. At that point he just backed off gingerly. But I did snag three bright yellow snow shovels – much to the amusement of all the other customers – so when that next storm hits, we’re all set to open a booming cottage industry. What does this have to do with cake? Well, nothing at all actually.)
This was a fun cake to make because it has a retro 60s vibe to it. The recipient is a young woman who is a true child of nature, bright and radiating happiness.
