I enjoy animated movies now and again. But when I hear that the film features anthropomorphized race cars my interest level immediately plummets. My knowledge of race car drivers is limited to Michael Schumacher (because he shares a name with my cousin) and Paul Newman.
So naturally I had to Google Paul Newman and you’ll never believe it. He is a voice actor in the movie Cars, the very same film featured on this cake! Here he is, as the voice of Doc Hudson, describing his troubled past.
Did this little coincidence increase my enthusiasm for this race car project? Not at all. Why are little boys so fascinated by various means of transportation? Nobody’s ordered a space ship cake yet, or a submarine. How about a hot air balloon or a scooter? Now those would be a challenge!
This little race car cake didn’t put up much of a fight. The most difficult part was the car itself, naturally. He features many little details (some which are not visible in the photo and some that I left out) which were somewhat challenging to squeeze onto his small frame. Here’s hoping that David, who’s now three years old, won’t mind that the car’s back windshield isn’t divided into four sections or that there’s no American flag on his bumper.
And we can only pray that next year he goes for a Tron Lightcycle or an En-V!
