This is my all-time most popular cake. I’ve made it in every colour, with thick or thin ribbons, textured, two-tiered, or in cupcake form. People don’t tire of it, it’s appropriate for everyone, it doesn’t go out of style, and suits any cake-worthy occasion.
I’m thinking of taking it off the site.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s classic and beautiful, but I often balk at having to reproduce a cake I’ve made even once before. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve had to churn this one out. And though making a living is definitely a priority, what ever happened to challenging and entertaining yourself at work?
