Just in time for Pesach (when I will not be filling any orders, thank you very much!) – Baby Moshe in his basket floating down the Nile. Can’t tell you how I achieved the rippling water effect – it’s a trade secret (OK fine, you add some piping gel to the icing and as a finishing touch, dab in a little white icing indiscriminately to create the foam) – but I think it lent credibility to the lush, verdant greenery and bulrushes all around. The waterfall was a creative choice, and prompted the recipient’s 5-year old to comment that he hoped the baby Moshe had taken Dramamine…
Fun facts! Did you know that the ancient Egyptians
~ made paper and boats from the papyrus reeds that grew alongside the Nile? (D’you think they made paper boats to sail down the river?)
~ called the Nile River Ar or Aur (black) because of the colour of the sediment left after the river’s annual flood
~ would thank ‘Hapi’, the Nile River god, for bringing fertility to the land. (Yup – Hapi. That was his name; you can’t make this kind of stuff up… Think they had ‘Hapi Hour’?)
