Thinking Inside The Box

This cake was made for a child’s costume birthday party. Of course, I had no idea if any of the guests would actually be dressed as a wizard, a ghost or a peg-legged pirate, but it certainly wasn’t out of the question.

The cake was meant to look like a box of dress-up clothes. What’s difficult to make out in the photo is the Superman suit, Fred Flintstone outfit, clown shoes, magician’s hat and gloves, fireman’s accessories and assorted other items.

I’m guessing the nine-year-old guests didn’t appreciate the finer points of the cake, such as the braided trim around the sides and the tie-dyed base but I find that my efforts are frequently meant primarily for my own enjoyment anyway.
