Having lived in Israel for over 20 years, there’s not so much that I miss from the old country anymore. Topping the list are root beer, giant bookstores, and full-scale theatrical productions. True, Israeli theatre can be top notch, and amateur English speaking theatre companies abound. But there’s still nothing like the thrill of stepping into a Broadway theatre, hearing the orchestra tune up, and being handed that distinctive yellow, white and black playbill.
Clearly I’m not alone in my nostalgia.
Sad to say I have not seen even one of the shows represented here. I don’t think the cake recipient has seen them all either, but one can always dream.
