Our Little Secret

Purim cupcakes

The holiday of Purim is all about the hidden and the revealed, the sudden transformation from a potential day of mourning to one of celebration and joy.

At first glance, these cupcakes don’t really seem to be connected to this theme in any way.

What do a sloppy Joe sandwich from New Deli, an army insignia atop the Kfir unit colours, the number 23, and the names Eliana and Benjy have in common with each other, and what connection do they have to the holiday? (Obviously the Happy Purim banner, the mask, and hamentaschen toppers speak for themselves here.)

Answer: Nothing at all!

But I know something you don’t know. (This clip from The Princess Bride is always worth watching in its entirety. But if you don’t have 3 minutes and 2 seconds to spare, skip to the relevant section at the one minute and 2 second mark.)

These cupcake toppers are actually hiding a sweet, beautiful, creamy secret. I decided to decorate each cupcake with a pretty delicate rose design and then place the personalized blue disc on top of the flower. Why would I even bother, I hear you ask, perplexed. Well, what if people decide to eat their cupcakes using the traditional Oreo method? They remove the top layer in order to lick off and savour the creamy filling and lo, instead of just a blob of icing, they’re rewarded with a beautiful floral surprise!

We here at Temptations Israel like to ensure the happiest eating experience possible, especially on one of the most joyful days of the Jewish calendar. Imagine what a downer it would be to find just a humdrum glob of icing on top of your cupcake.

It’s that kind of service and thoughtfulness that brings customers back for more, time and again.

You’re welcome!
