All I could think of when I was making this cake was the song that I (and every other Jewish day school child) learned in kindergarten.
This cake was made for a charming, sweet bat mitzvah girl who knew, down to the exact placement of the flowers and the colouring of every element, precisely what she wanted the cake to look like for her big day. Afraid of disappointing her, I can’t remember the last time I was so nervous putting a cake together! To my relief, she loved it – or at least was too kind to say otherwise.
