Confession time: I’ve never been much of a Star Wars – wait, no I mean Star Trek fan (and I hope this won’t dissuade any die-hard trekkies – or trekkers, as I’m given to understand is the term serious fans prefer – from ordering any cakes)!
Nonetheless, I boldly went where I had never gone before to create this cake – which surely deserves a place of honour in the Temptations star-studded (non-dairy) Milky Way Galaxy of Enterprising orders.
Before you ask – yes, the customer wanted the original series, and not The Next Generation or any of those other spin-offs that I couldn’t possibly name. Also, the fact that the captain and his first officer (that’s Spock there on the left, in case you couldn’t tell by the pointy ears and odd hairline) are sitting so far apart is not a comment on their relationship (which I also know nothing about, but let’s assume that they were simply stranded separately on unexplored cake planets, and that the rest of the landing party is off searching for the ganache* under the surface).
Kirk and Spock actually disappeared pretty quickly though, when the cake was served up to the ravenous horde of human party-goers. I guess Scotty was derelict in beaming them up.

* Ganache is the French term – technically meaning jowl – for glaze, icing, sauce or filling for pastries. Generally made from chocolate and cream. Always yummy.
