I was texting back and forth with the customer about this cake. It was for her in-laws’ 40th anniversary and she wanted to include salient details about their lives. One important feature had to be her mother-in-law’s involvement in eft therapy. Now, we were texting so I assumed a typo or auto-correct and my brain automatically converted the eft into art, which is something I could relate to. No, eft she insisted.
Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. People who use this technique believe tapping the body can create a balance in your energy system and treat pain (healthline.com). Now, that’s interesting. And it also explains why the woman is touching the man’s face in that way – for those of you who found it slightly odd. You have to admit though, he does look pain-free.
Another new thing I learned was how to paint leopard print. It’s really much easier than I thought. Here’s a little tutorial for you, if you’re interested. They actually make it sound much more complicated than it is. My favourite line is, “Don’t try to make it perfect. In fact – the messier you colour it, the better.”
The daughter-in-law provided many more characteristic details about the woman than the man. She loves fuchsia, wild hats, and leopard print. Her father-in-law likes to cycle (that’s him over there on the side, pedalling off into the distance), and frequently wears a sweatband. She did mention that he’s an expert on Nach (the books of the Prophets). But I thought it might detract from his therapy if he had an open book on his lap, so I decided to leave that detail out.
Mazal tov to the happy couple. May they celebrate at least 40 more years together.
